Westchester Square to Celebrate its 10th Annual Fair At The Square on Saturday, June 16th

BRONX, NY – On Saturday, June 16, 2018, the Westchester Square Business Improvement District (BID) and its community members will celebrate the 10th Annual Fair @ The Square from 11am-6pm.  In 2008, this FREE signature Bronx event began as a small block party on Benson Avenue off of Lane Avenue in the BID.  Now, with its expanded fairgrounds and increased popularity, the fair has increased to a half mile of music, merchants, food, fun and most importantly, great memories!  The Main Stage will be located on E. Tremont Avenue with grand visibility as the fair will run along E. Tremont Avenue, which will be closed to traffic. This will provide an expanded and safer walking space for attendees and nearly a half mile of fun!

Presented by The Westchester Square Business Improvement District (BID) & The Westchester Square Merchants Association, produced by Image Marketing Inc, in Partnership with the New York City Parks Department and the New York City Department of Small Business Services (SBS), Fair @ The Square promotes the diversity in the Commerce, the Culture, and the Community of Westchester Square.  For two years now, the BID has received assistance from SBS through their “Avenue NYC Grant.”  This grant funds nonprofit organizations to provide services and technical assistance to enhance program execution, leadership and strategic capabilities of community-based organizations.  This grant has helped the Fair at the Square grow in size as well as fund the historical branding of the Commercial Corridor.  “We know, through our network of 75 BIDs across the five boroughs, that communities thrive when they come together,” said Gregg Bishop, Commissioner of the New York City Department of Small Business Services. “The Westchester Square BID’s 10th Annual Fair @ The Square is an excellent example of BIDs’ unique ability to build stronger neighborhoods by bringing residents and merchants together to celebrate their community.”

This multi-cultural event, which attracts thousands of fair-goers throughout the day, will feature an all-day concert series hosted by Artie Rodriguez of the Diamante Show and Mr. Entertainment himself, Gene DiNapoli. This concert series will feature many of the borough’s talented musicians, dancers and singers. “It’s always a very exciting time for everyone involved at the Square,” said John Bonizio, COO of Metro Optics and Chairman of the Westchester Square BID, “but this year is even better with the headliner that we have!” Headlining the show is “El Pavarotti de la Salsa,” Tito Nieves, whose hits include “I Like it Like That,” “I’ll Always Love You” and “De Mi Enamorate.”
