Father’s Day and Men’s Health Month

My father set an invaluable example for me, and I want to do the same for my children. That’s why I’m using this Father’s Day and Men’s Health Month to talk about how all men can lead healthier lives.
Here are some resources that may be useful to you or men in your life:

  • A “cheat sheet” for men’s cancer screenings: Want to know which screenings the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends and when you should get them? This cheat sheet may help.

  • A tool to find behavioral health treatment services: Men accounted for 67 percentof opioid overdose deaths in 2016. If you or someone you love is looking for treatment for substance use or mental health care, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration can help you locate services here.

  • Tips for men regarding the Zika virus: As you make summer travel plans, know that the Zika virus remains active in many places. Men with pregnant partners, or partners who may become pregnant, can learn what precautions the CDC recommends here.

Remember to discuss these tips with your health care provider, who will know best which recommendations are right for you.
I hope these tools will help you and your loved ones to stay healthy this Father’s Day, and for many more to come!
