SENATOR RIVERA STATEMENT ON THE NEWLY CONFIRMED SUPREME COURT JUSTICE
It is enraging to see a person so unfit for public service and lacking the integrity required by the Supreme Court of the United States of America claiming a lifetime appointment. He was confirmed by 51 United States Senators and appointed by an administration whose inept and divisive style of governing have once again placed political ambition before the interest and will of the American people.
The hope, perseverance, and resolve displayed by the survivors and allies who fought throughout this process need to be acknowledged. Particularly the actions of Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, whose selfless bravery should never be forgotten.
It is more critical than ever that we each engage in civic actions that can foster the change we want and need. We have the obligation to continue to fight for the country, the state, and the neighborhoods that we want to build for ourselves and our future.
This was not the first fight and it will not be the last. Vote, speak, rally, protest and engage however you are able to help make this world a better place. I sincerely believe we are on the right side of history and that these efforts are necessary and worthwhile.
