This Week in Bronx History

Ten years ago this week Steve Armento and Actor Lilo Brancato go on trial in the shooting death of police officer Daniel Enchautegui, who was off-duty when he left his Pelham Bay home to investigate a burglary in progress.
Things got physical at a gathering for elections by the Bronx Democratic Party that began with a shoving match at the Lowe’s Paradise Theater and ended in a courtroom battle between Jose Rivera and Jeff Dinowitz. Assemblyman Carl Haste eventually took the throne as county leader. Five years ago this week former Senator Pedro Espada fed residents of a building without heat a Thanksgiving meal and doctors at Lincoln Hospital saved the life of a young girl who was shot in the head.
