Fordham Freshman Gets A-10 Honor

NEWS FROM A-10 BASKETBALL CONFERENCE

The Atlantic 10 Conference has named VCU junior Issac Vann as its Player of the Week and Fordham freshman Nick Honor as its Rookie of the Week. The awards were announced Monday and are for games played Nov. 19-25.

Vann scored a career-high 30-points, while grabbing 11 rebounds and dishing out five assists against St. John’s in the Legends Classic Championship Game. He then scored 19 points and provided four steals, including one late in overtime to preserve a win over Hofstra. The guard/forward from Bridgeport, Conn., also had 11 points in the Rams’ win over Temple. Vann averaged 19.0 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.0 assists as VCU went 2-1 last week.

Honor scored a game-high 17 points, shooting 7-for-13 (.538) from the field and 3-for-4 (.750) from behind the arc to lead Fordham to a 77-46 win over Alabama A&M in the Rams’ lone game on the week. The guard from Orlando, Fla., also added five rebounds, four assists and one steal. It was the second straight A-10 Rookie of the Week award for Honor.
