Van Nest Neighborhood Alliance December Meeting

The Van Nest Neighborhood Alliance December meeting was a very well attended meeting which VNNA President Bernadette Farrara mentioned that the VNNA gave out 73 turkeys for the Thanksgiving holiday. She mentioned which elected official gave how many thanking State Senator Gustavo Rivera who gave 30 turkeys to be distributed by the VNNA. There was discussion about a new building going up at 500 – 508 Van Nest Avenue slated for 46 units of one and two bedroom apartments. The VNNA will watch this closely with the talks of having to build homeless shelters in community boards. CB 11 currently has no homeless shelter in it.

The Morris Park Business Improvement District goes up to Unionport Road and the Director (in attendance) spoke of the purpose of the BID including a Christmas trolley on Sunday December 22nd coming to Morris Park Avenue.There was a brief update from the NCO officers of the 49th precinct, reports from the elected official representatives, and then a Christmas party with food, beverages, and some delicious desserts.There will be a Christmas tree lighting on Sunday December 15th at 4 PM with Santa at Saint Dominick’s Convent located at 1710 Unionport Road corner of Morris Park Avenue.
