Conti Bakery Receives Award From State Senator Rivera

Conti’s Bakery located at 786 Morris Park Avenue a fixture in the Morris Park/Van Nest communities for 98 years received a New York State Empire Award from State Senator Gustavo Rivera. Senator Rivera going around his district to find local businesses that have demonstrated exemplary service to their communities in his district. 


 Conti Bakery was opened by Augustino Conti in 1921 as the American dream of an Italian immigrant whose knowledge of cookies, pastries, and cakes with a love of baking. After a death in the family the bakery was sold in 2003 to Mr. Safet Paljevic who loved coming to Conti’s Bakery for some espresso and great tasting pastries, He was joined in the business by sister Jenada Paljevic, and later employee Christina Di Russo in running the day to day operations of the bakery.

 Senator Rivera in his visit to Conti’s enjoyed a cup of espresso and a delicious canola. He also spoke with all three partners about legislation he plans to introduce Senate Bill S5982 which would guarantee leases for commercial tenants in New York City.
