The ball has dropped, the confetti has settled, but our Vision For 2020 is full speed ahead: to continue building upon the legacy of our founder, who opened the original Metro Optics in 1978 (still thriving in Parkchester!) to serve a growing Bronx with personalized, knowledgeable eye care, the latest in high-quality eyewear, and a community focus. What’s New in 2020 Our Original Home Is Getting A Makeover!Our first location at 1332 Metropolitan Ave. is undergoing a complete renovation to better serve our patients. A heated Mobile Unit is parked right outside the storefront with staff available Monday – Saturday, 10am to 5pm to dispense & service eyewear, contact lens pickups, & more. Complimentary transportation is also available to our other locations for complete eye care services including eye exams, special testing and selecting new glasses. Renovations are anticipated to be completed in mid-late February. While that location is under construction, we are taking every possible step to alleviate friction for our patients as we work to debut our new 2020 look ASAP.
New At Metro: Enhanced Eye TestingWe now offer Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), which produces a highly detailed image of the layers of each retina in under 60 seconds. Along with Fundus photography – another recent addition to our suite of available special testing – these visuals provide your doctor with an in-depth view of key areas of the eye, in order to identify signs of developing eye disease in early stages (when treatment is most effective). These images will be saved to your records, allowing the doctor to compare any changes in your eye from visit to visit. Now Available: EnChromaEnChroma lens technology is engineered to enhance the ability of those with color deficiency (commonly referred to as “color blindness”) to see more of the broad spectrum of bright color. We joined Community Board 9 at National Night Out in the 43rd Precinct (home to our Parkchester location), supporting this lively event with family-friendly, health-oriented activities.At Back-To-School time, we launched the first edition of our Community Coloring Book.
