New York City & Vicinity District Council of Carpenter’s Vice President Honored During Saint Dominic’s 39th Annual Business and Labor Awards Dinner

Saint Dominic’s Family Services, located in the Bronx and Rockland and Orange Counties, recognizes NYC Union Carpenters for Years of Fundraising during annual awards dinner

The Carpenters Union has supported Saint Dominic’s for 39 years, and since 2003 has donated close to $1M dedicated to thousands of children, adults and families in New York

New York, NY – Michael Cavanaugh, Vice President of the New York City & Vicinity District Council of Carpenters, was honored by Saint Dominic’s Family Services at the organization’s 39th Annual Business and Labor Awards Dinner.  Since 2003, the NYC Carpenters Union, through its Relief and Charity Fund, donated $965,000 for the organization, which provides critical services for 2,000 children and families.

Saint Dominic’s Family Services is a non-profit human services agency that provides services in foster care, prevention, developmental disabilities, community-based mental health, therapeutic education and preschool services. This work is carried out in the Bronx, Rockland and Orange Counties.

“We are beyond proud of the efforts Vice President Michael Cavanaugh led to help families in need,” stated Executive Secretary-Treasurer Joseph Geiger. “The Francis J.P. McHale Memorial Award highlights the fact that our union is carrying out the mission of making a difference in the areas where our members live and work.”

NYCDCC Executive Secretary-Treasurer Joseph Geiger was also a recipient of this award in 2016.

“We want to thank Vice President Michael Cavanaugh and the members of the New York City & Vicinity District Council of Carpenters for their generous donations throughout the years,” stated Judith Kydon, CEO of Saint Dominic’s Family Services. “We have seen the funds raised by the Carpenters Union truly make a difference for struggling New Yorkers as it provides services that families depend on.”

“We are grateful for the ongoing support of the New York City & Vicinity District Council of Carpenters, other unions, contractors, and industry leaders,” stated David Meberg, Chairman of Friends of St. Dominic’s and President and CEO of Consolidated Carpet, a third-generation family-owned and operated commercial floor covering business. “Their generosity makes it possible for thousands of vulnerable New Yorkers to receive vital services that enable them to care for their loved ones and themselves.”
