I hope you and your families are continuing to stay well during this time and remember that we are all weathering this pandemic together.
As a city and nation, we will never live up to the ideals in which our country was founded until everyone is given an equal opportunity to live safely and up to their God-given potential. To achieve this everyone must take an active role in making fairness a reality. This is not solely the burden of those who are forced to live with injustice. My heart and thoughts are with the Floyd family as they grieve their loss. And my prayers go out to a great nation that is in need of healing through this very difficult period.
As we move ahead and while the recovery is still long, NYC, marked a major turning point in the battle against the coronavirus pandemic with no confirmed deaths for the first time since March 12. Let’s keep it up!
While NYC prepares to reopen, I am proud to co- sponsor Intro 1957, the Outdoor Dining Bill that will help restaurants, commercial corridors and neighborhoods revive by using sidewalk spaces for local restaurants, while maintaining social distancing during this pandemic.
Please find below updated numbers and statistics from our District Office as far as constituent cases, food and mask giveaways, cleaning initiatives and more, that our Staff has been diligently working on.
To ensure you receive the best assistance with any issues, please contact our District Office at (718) 931-1721, email us at MGjonaj@council.nyc.gov and follow us on social media for the most updated news.
As we are NY Strong and moving to NY Forward, we continue to salute our first responders, healthcare workers and essential employees who are saving lives, serving and protecting us.
In light of the recent events, as an elected official, I am committed to continue to fight inequities and to advocate on imperative issues on behalf of all my constituents in partnership with community leaders. There is no room for racism, hate or violence in our communities!
Sincerely,
NYC Councilman Mark GjonajDistrict 13, BronxEssential Employees are doing an exceptional work to make sure that we have critical services during this difficult time.
