AOC EXPANDS LEAD AFTER OFFICIAL COUNT OF THE HIGHEST VOTER TURNOUT IN HISTORY OF NY-14

(NY-14) – Almost a month after New York’s General Election, the absentee ballot count of New York’s 14th Congressional District has been completed  by the Board of Elections, expanding Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s lead in her first reelection campaign. Ocasio-Cortez  garnered 152,661 votes out of the 213,340 recorded ballots or 71.6 percent of the votes in the country’s second most expensive House race of 2020.

“Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez not only won her reelection by a large margin, she also won during the highest turnout year in the modern history of NY-14. Her win proves that this is the kind of leadership our district wants,” said Campaign Manager Rebecca Rodriguez. “During the elections, our campaign raised and directed over $1 million dollars to local organizations combating food and housing insecurity during the pandemic and also invested over $1 million for census outreach. Our campaign was not just about earning votes, it was about building and empowering our community and we are proud of our work.”
