QUOTE:        “I was extremely concerned when I learned that a Kittay House resident, more than 100 years old, could not get vaccinated against COVID-19 because she was unable to travel to a vaccine site.  I immediately contacted Morris Heights Health Center to see if MHHC’s resources could be mobilized to help.  We’ve learned that the City currently has no system to get vaccines to seniors who cannot travel to vaccine sites, even with free transportation, because of their frailty.  Clearly, there are seniors throughout the five boroughs who, despite being in eligibility Category 1A, are not getting the vaccine because the City has overlooked this population.  I’m calling on the New York City Department For the Aging to immediately develop and implement a system for vaccinating homebound seniors.  I’m very grateful to Morris Heights Health Center for meeting this challenge and sharing their resources.”

Council Member Cabrera is available for interviews.
