THIRD GRADE STUDENTS FROM INWOOD TO RECEIVE EXCLUSIVE PERFORMANCE BY MUSICIANS AND PERFORMERS OF THE NEW YORK CITY BALLET
Students from Zeta Charter Schools, Where Many Take Dance and Music Lessons from Kindergarten, Will Host Musicians and Performers of the New York City Ballet for an Exclusive Performance of New Work, “Nite of Spring”
BRONX, NY – On Wednesday, June 16th, 10:30am-11:30 am, third grade students of Zeta Charter Schools, a next-generation network of public charter schools in the Bronx and Upper Manhattan, will watch an exclusive live performance by musicians and performers of the New York City Ballet at the Inwood school campus. The performance will include jazz and rock selections, an excerpt from Schubert Cello Quintet, and a new work by Jeremy Beck called “Nite of Spring.”
The ballet represents the struggles experienced in the incredibly difficult past year, the sacrifices made, and the hope for the future that is slowly beginning to resurface in the New York City community.
Despite the unprecedented obstacles posed by COVID-19 this year, the live performance is part of Zeta Charter Schools’ first-of-its-kind series aimed at exposing students, starting in kindergarten, to musicians and artistic talent from diverse backgrounds. At Zeta’s four public schools in the Bronx and Inwood, all children attend music class beginning in kindergarten, coupled with offerings like Taekwondo and chess.
