The deadline to apply for a PPP loan has passed; applications are no longer being accepted. But there are other loan opportunities you may have access to — you just have to know where to look. This guide outlines small business loans and alternative funding options, while this one lists more than 30 grants, loans and programs. And, the U.S. Small Business Association offers these seven SBA loan programs, which you may qualify for, as well.

Bronx Night Market – New Ventures Benefiting BX Small & Micro-Businesses
The Bronx Chamber recently partnered with the Bronx Night Market team to highlight and support up-and-comers in our Bronx small business community: later this summer, the Chamber’s Recovery Outreach Specialists will be circulating at select Night Markets at Fordham Plaza to connect local businesses with important resources, and co-tabling with select “Spotlight” businesses in the Chamber network to help promote their wares – keep an eye on our website and social media pages for date announcements!

What You Should Know
Amazon’s Black Business Accelerator
Amazon – one of our newest Bronx Chamber Corporate members – recently announced their new, multi-year, multi-million dollar initiative, the Black Business Accelerator: aimed at supporting, promoting, and growing small, Black-owned businesses. The financial grant applications open up July 1.
Amazon is committing $150 million over the next four years to help thousands of Black entrepreneurs reach hundreds of millions of customers. This program, created in partnership with Amazon’s Black Employee Network, the U.S. Black Chamber Inc., and others acknowledges that Black entrepreneurs have less access to capital, mentorship, and growth opportunities, and have been disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Amazon is optimistic about the potential for this program to help generate wealth for Black entrepreneurs, their employees, their families, and their communities. To learn more, visit
NYC Business Quick Start Program
NYC has launched NYC Business Quick Start, a concierge service for small businesses that provides sole point of contact to help navigate City regulations, as well as a public dashboard. The program guarantees a 48-hour response to all small business inquiries and will cut processing time by 50 percent.
The new program will help you:
  • Understand key City rules and requirements to avoid fines and violations
  • Connect to government agencies to get the permits and licenses you need for your business
  • Learn how to resolve any violations your business has received
Preparing for Licensing Edition with Senator Gustavo Rivera
State Senator Gustavo Rivera will host a virtual event on Monday, June 28th at 6 PM in collaboration with the Drug Policy Alliance to inform current business owners and entrepreneurs on the various licenses that will become available with the passing of the Marijuana Regulation & Taxation Act. This event will cover the potential process for acquiring these licenses, as well as eligibility.
Imaginal Scale-Up Program: Women-Led Product & Technology Growth Accelerator
The Imaginal Scale-up Program for founders of Women-Led Product and Technology Companies looking to accelerate their growth, scale, and impact is open and ready to accept applications.
This new and innovative digital program, created by Imaginal Ventures, combined with a fully immersive platform and a bespoke online Eco-Space, will support the scaling of businesses, using evidenced based techniques that teach conscious decision-making and the building of a solid foundation to accelerate growth and impact.

Bronx Business Roundtable: Advancing an Equitable Recovery
On June 29th at 4 pm, join BronXchange, Bronx Cooperative Development Initiative, and Owner to Owners for a conversation on advancing economic democracy and small business resources that can help you stabilize, grow or sell your business at a fair market rate. Hear from business and community leaders about specific business development projects underway that will position The Bronx as the epicenter of equitable economic development in NYC.
The Business Council’s End of Session Summary
The 2021 New York State legislative session adjourned on June 11 with 892 bills receiving two-house passage (out of more than 14,000 bills introduced since January), of which 99 amended or referenced the state’s Tax Law. However, the end of session rush produced few bills of broad interest or significant concern for The Business Council’s tax committee
S4730: Relates to the liability of a person who presents false claims for money or property to the state or a local government.
S5715A: Requires assessors using the comparable sales, income capitalization or cost method for assessments to consider certain comparable properties in formulating the assessment of non-residential properties.
S7230: Provides an exclusion from income, to the extent includable, for amounts received pursuant to the COVID-19 pandemic small business recovery grant program, established in section 16-ff of the New York state urban development corporation act.
S6487: Extends by one year, through June 30, 2022, the deadline for qualifying for a real property tax exemption for alterations and improvements to multiple dwellings to eliminate fire and health hazards under the NYC J–51 program.

City Clean Up Corps
The Mayor kicked-off an ambitious program called the City Cleanup Corps (CCC). Following the devastating impacts of this ongoing pandemic, the CCC was launched to both help cleanup and rejuvenate our great neighborhoods and communities, while providing meaningful, good paying jobs that provide a career path to lasting economic recovery.
As a community leader, you can assist the CCC in two important ways:
  • Connecting the CCC to your community: Through a partnership between the Human Resource Administration and the JCC of Greater Coney Island, the JCC is able to place paid full-time interns within your local organizations. The City is committed to awarding $16 billion in City contracts to M/WBEs over the next decade. Getting certified as a (M/WBE) Minority & Women-Owned Business Enterprise will help you access exclusive programs to help your small business grow and compete for these opportunities.

2. Gain access to capacity building programs: Education, Financing
