Longwood Music Festival

By BOB KAPPSTATTER

Hundreds of local residents turned out to celebrate the annual end of summer Longwood Music Festival, with salsa music and the aromas of Puerto Rican cooking delights filling the air along Dawson Street.

With greetings to the crowd from Mayor Eric Adams, the queen of salsa “La India” and four-time Grammy award nominee Charlie Aponte wowed the crowd, which filled the street from Longwood to Intervale Avenues on Saturday, Sept. 10.

The annual celebration, which also included a similar festival in June, was co-sponsored by The Hispanic Federation, Councilman Rafael Salamanca, and festival organizer Freddy Perez.
