Loreto Park Menorah Lighting First Day of Chanukah

It was a cold sundown Thursday getting down to the mid 30’s for the lighting of the Loreto Park Menorah on the first night of Chanukah by Rabbi Pewzner of the Bronx Jewish Center of Pelham Parkway. 

 The 49th Precinct Community Affairs team of Detective Hall and Officer Powers were on hand, with Detective Hall helping Rabbi Pewzner light the middle light on the Loreto Park Menorah, As Rabbi Pewzner would light the first light on the right for the first night of Chanukah.

 

 
Rabbi Pewzner of the Bronx Jewish Center has everything set up to light the Loreto Park Menorah.
 
 
49th Precinct Community Affairs Detective Hall volunteered to go up the ladder and light the middle light of the menorah. Rabbi Pewzner lit the flame on the torch to be used to light the oil in the cup.
 
 
Rabbi Pewzner would go up the ladder to light the far right light for the first night of Chanukah. Each night after one more light from the right gets lit until all eight and the middle light (that gets lit every night) to signify the eight days of Chanukah. 
 


People dance around, eat potato latkes and Jelly Doughnuts to celebrate the Jewish Holiday of Chanukah.
