For the past weekend, fashions from up and coming Bronx designers were showcased at the Andrew Freedman Home on the Grand Concourse.

Fashion was not the only thing on display, local and Bronx-based businesses had the chance to join the business expo each day from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. to show off their wears.

The idea of a Bronx Fashion show was started from an idea and built up after Flora Montes, President and Executive Director of Bronx Fashion Week, attended a fashion show last year. Ms. Montes was so impressed with Latin Fashion Week in Manhattan that she realized the Bronx needed one too.

On display were fashions from 14 different designers, including Jesenia Lopez and Miroslava Rosado who are both from the Bronx. Owner of Aval by Lava, Miroslava offers customized fashions that are created by the wearers specifications. Menswear and womenswear designer, Ms. Lopez created NYNE NYC as a unisexed clothing line.

Another designer, Shadeth Aracena, is only 18 years old and already has participated in multiple fashion shows in Brooklyn, Atlanta, and Saint Thomas.

Clothes and shoes were not the only fashions on the runway, sunglasses and other eyewear were provided by MetroOptics.
