Dominican Pride on the Concourse

Several thousand Dominican-Americans lined the street’s along the Grand Concourse during the 28th annual Bronx Dominican Day Parade, held on Sunday, July 30. Revelers marched down the Grand Concourse from East Tremont Avenue to East 166 Street. Parade organizers stated this year they had 9,000 participants and 40 floats. The celebration ended with a Dominican-themed festival along East 163 Street. According to the most recent U.S. Census, there are over 200,000 Dominicans currently living in the borough. Several Dominican groups were on hand protesting wide-spread corruption on the island nation.
