Sweets and Sweater Season Event Hosted by Bharati Foundation

Earlier this week, Bharati Dance Academy and The Bharati Foundation at Vishnu Mandir, plus several sponsors and donors, joined together to host the 2nd Annual Sweets & Sweater Season event giving out toys, books, t-shirts and pajamas to over 500 youth in the borough at three locations and two drop-off sites. The Sotomayor Center was one of the host sites for the event and toys distribution.

“The Bronx is home to over 1.4 million people but not everyone can enjoy the holiday the same way,” said founder and event organizer, Bharati S. Kemraj. “This is our way of saying that we are here for each other, especially the young ones.”

Youth of all ages participated fun filled events at various locations around the borough with activities ranging from Christmas story book reading to holiday musical chairs and toys and books giveaways.
