Saturday afternoon under bright sunshine and a temperature close to seventy degrees as the Throgs Neck Little League baseball season began.

Bronx BP Ruben Diaz Jr. told the  young ballplayers and their parents about his childhood when he played Little League baseball. Diaz also had the honor of throwing out the first pitch. Freshmen legislators, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and state Senator Alessandra Biaggi attended the TNLL opening for the first time and spoke with the young Little Leaguers.

Elected officials on hand included Congresswoman Alexandria Ocassio-Cortez, Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr., State Senator Alessandra Biaggi, Assemblyman Michael Benedetto, Councilman Mark Gjonaj, and former New York Yankee centerfielder Mickey Rivers, all who spoke before Bronx BP Diaz Jr. threw out the first pitch.
